Every year, PEPY hosts an annual party for staff and family to celebrate the efforts of the past year. This year is a very special and wonderful year for PEPY—its 5th birthday of offering programs in Cambodia! There were 80 people who joined us. Most of them were staff, but we had a few travelers from around the world who were cycling with the PEPY Ride VI. We served dinner and held a short presentation geared around a story called “Stone Soup”. You might be wondering what is the “Stone Soup”? Click here for the story.
We learned a lot from “Stone Soup” as this story symbolized the history of PEPY’s programs from the last 5 years. PEPY arrived in Cambodia with a big empty iron pot and a stone, but it was fortunate to find a lot of ingredients from others along the way. PEPY staff and supporters made this soup more and more tasty over time.
At the end of the party, we exchanged small gifts and sang “Ah Rapiya”—a popular song that Cambodians sing for joy and being together. The party was full of happiness and tears of how thankful we are to work together for a common cause.
Thanks to all staff, interns, and supporters who always put a lot of energy in PEPY programs. Together, we will continue to improve the quality of education and to empower young Cambodian people to be strong leaders for Cambodia’s future.
