This month PEPY was able to go on a much anticipated staff retreat. Heading south the week before Khmer New Year, PEPY staff and volunteers where able to enjoy the beautiful beaches and surroundings of Sihanoukville from April 8th-11th.
Taking the trip down in a group bus, the PEPY family was able to bond and make further ties through games, karaoke and some extra entertainment by our favorite MC / tour guide/ personal vocalist and IT Officer Manin Oem. Once at the coast the mornings began with an overview of programming and updates from each department within PEPY. This followed each day with a series of leadership games and some personality analysis sessions. By late afternoon each day the entire PEPY Team was ready for the beach and was able to head out for some traditional Khmer games and sunshine. Overall this retreat was seen as very successful and allowed everyone to learn and become updated and aware of everything happening within PEPY, its programs and its current goals. Bonding and training allowed the team to become more collaborative and will hopefully allow for even further cohesiveness both in the office and the community.
A special thanks for this retreat goes out to Seakngoy Try, Rithy Chhoem, Hanty Ung and Malen Yeng who worked tirelessly for weeks prior to this trip to make sure everything ran smoothly. Hopefully the skills learned and the bonds formed during this coastal week will carry over to the team’s everyday work.
