This month PEPY is thrilled to announce our partnership with Dubai Cares, a foundation that has committed funding for the construction of three new primary schools in Chanleas Dai Commune. The new schools will be built in the villages of Ruun, Preah Lean, and Tram Kang, and will provide safe, permanent learning environments for young primary students. The construction projects are scheduled to begin this week and will be monitored by committees of community members in each of the villages. During the course of construction, Dubai Cares will send teams of volunteers to Cambodia for week-long trips with PEPY to see the school projects and help out with the building. PEPY is extremely grateful for the financial support of Dubai Cares and is looking forward to meeting the volunteers who will help to make the new schools a reality.
We are also happy to say that construction of the new secondary school in Chanleas Dai is off to a great start. Last month we asked our PEPY supporters to help us fund a new junior high school building. Contractors broke ground in December and are currently laying the foundation of what will be the first-ever secondary school in the community. The holiday giving season was a great way to kick off our fundraising drive and we have received generous donations from many individuals, but we are still far short of our funding needs for this school. Watch this video to learn more about the project or make a monthly donation to contribute to building Chanleas Dai’s first secondary school.
We will continue to post updates about the construction of the four schools throughout the year so be sure to stay tuned!
