This academic year, the Learning Center is providing Information & Communication Technology (ICT) classes for the first and second year scholarship students.
The first year students are enjoying the class and the challenge of this new area of learning for them.
Prior to their arrival in the Learning Center the majority of the students did not know how to use a computer and had no realization that computers are very important in the modern world. In the introduction in the first class, students learned about the benefits of having computer skills for their futures. Currently, the first year students are learning the fundamentals of computers, Microsoft Office, and the Internet.
Over the past year, many of the second year students have acquired many new ICT skills. They are now able to produce reports and present documents. All of the students made individual presentations in front of their peers and teachers using PowerPoint. Moreover, students can now communicate online through email and social media. Perhaps the biggest accomplishment is that all the students have created their own blogs and maintain them on a regular basis.
Some of the students are quite talented at producing videos and editing images. In the coming months the students will be learning how to search for employment vacancies online, ensuring their curriculum vitaes are appealing for the employer.
Since 2013, Manin is the ICT instructor at PEPY Empowering Youth. He is very proud of the progress which the students have made.
