Dream Management Project

In our target areas, communities are rural and remote. Young people and their families do not see many opportunities for themselves outside of construction work, agriculture, and migrating legally/illegally to Thailand. As a result, education is not valued and drop out rates are high, while the cycle of poverty continues.

We started the Dream Management Project in 2013, to raise awareness of the value of education and the impact it can have on their lives. Our Dream team makes sure rural high school students know all possible futures and career paths. We believe it is important for young people to dream BIG and understand how those dreams can be accomplished. Through Dream, we provide the resources and connections to take the necessary steps to realizing that future.

Our elective Dream classes for students in grades 10, 11, and 12 (pivotal years when the majority of youth drop out) provide a forum for over 1,000 students a year to determine pathways to their futures and challenges they may need to overcome. At the same time, our Dream Officers provide them with career resources, mentorship, soft skill training, scholarships, and networking opportunities.

Key Initiatives and Events:

Skills Fairs

At our partner schools, we hold an annual school-wide event bringing professionals, employers, and universities to the rural schools. They offer advice and information on potential career paths to students and their families. The event is huge for the community, bringing together hundreds of participants and leaders of many different NGOs, companies, and universities.

Sharing Events

School-wide motivational and awareness-raising events that brings professionals from across the country into our target communities. They take the time to share their experiences and cover various leadership and soft skill topics with students.

Dream Talks

An event run several times a year that brings local professionals, leaders, and alumni to Dream classes. The speakers give students the opportunity to ask questions, hear their stories, and learn about different career paths and challenges that they might face in the future.

Study Tours

Our team works in partnership with our target high schools to bring students from the rural areas into Siem Reap city. Then, they tour universities and vocational training programs. For many students, this is their first time in a city! It gives them the chance to see firsthand what opportunities are available to them if they stay in school.
