On Sunday, December 26, over 500 people gathered in Kompong Thkov for a special show featuring members of our child clubs. Special guests included the district governor, commune chief, and families and friends of the club members. A well-known singer even made the journey up from Phnom Penh and performed some songs along with a band. The main event was a talent show in which children sang, danced, performed skits, and displayed handicrafts they had made with recycled materials. It was a night of encouraging the pursuit of dreams, and the crowd was wowed by the skills and determination of the child clubs—well done to everyone who helped make it happen!

Right now our 14 clubs (totaling 292 members) are in the fourth of six steps involved in the Child-to-Child model. They are spending extra time on the topic of “trash and environment” because it is taking longer than planned for their communities to adopt the practices that they have come up with. In this way they are learning perseverance and the important lesson, that change takes time. Bravo to the children, their facilitators, and the members of each village who are open to learning from these amazing young leaders.
