by PEPY Managing Director, Maryann Bylander
As you might have read, PEPY has been working to raise funds to send 4 students and two staff members to a leadership camp in Vermont. Our campaign to raise these funds has sparked a lively debate on our team journal, and we are grateful to all those who have raised questions, concerns, and support. Thank you for your engagement! If you haven’t read the debate yet, you can follow along here.
We are still hoping to send students and staff to Vermont this July as we still believe this program will provide learning opportunities for both the students and the communities they are from. We still also agree that the funding for this should not come at the expense of any of our other programs financially, so we will only operate this if there is funding specifically contributed to make this happen.
With recent additional donations and slightly cheaper flights found, it looks like we are now only 2,000 dollars short of the funding we need. The camp directors have now generously donated ALL of the costs of being at the camp, are providing some of their own funds to make it happen, and have also been active in helping us search for other funding as they too, of course, believe in this project.
If you haven’t given to this project yet and would like to, or if you know someone who might be able to help us find the remaining funds please get in touch soon! We need all funds in hand by June 8th. If you choose (or have chosen) to specifically support this program and it does not move forward for lack of funding or some other reason we will offer you the option of having your funds returned or allocated towards other PEPY programs.
