This year is the second year that PEPY has worked as the in-country recruitment partner for the Asian University for Women in Bangladesh. As the last applications trickled in over the weekend, we’re proud to announce that we will be sending over 80 applications from 12 provinces to the admissions department in Chittagong.
For those who haven’t yet been introduced to AUW, take a look at their website here.
After accompanying last year’s 8 scholars to Chittagong in April 2008, I’ve been in regular correspondence with the girls and their teachers. Their English has gone from piecemeal to phenomenal. They have met Nobel Prize Winner Mohammed Yunnus, participated in Mock UN workshops, shared their life stories through written English, made friends from around the world, even participated in Karate classes, and applied for conferences in Dubai, Singapore, and other countries. If not for AUW, I know they would still be pursuing their studies in Cambodia, and still be incredibly bright, motivated individuals. However, I can see that in the next years as they finish their BA program, work in sponsored internships around the world, and are constantly pushed to reach their potential, they will truly be the women that return and change Cambodia.
PEPY is honored to be a part of the process of helping AUW find and select these young women. We wish all of this year’s applicants the best of luck as they move forward with interviews and entrance exams in the coming months.
